Tips & Tricks: Keeping ginger fresh

Singlemade: Tips & Tricks: Keeping ginger fresh

Fresh ginger is so good ànd healthy. You should really keep it in stock at all times! The only problem is that fresh ginger quickly dries out, gets wiry and is therefore harder to use. But we’ve found a solution! More than that, thanks to this tip, you can use ginger much more subtly and finely than ever before. This reduces the risk of overusing it or leaving chunks in your meals. Ever since I discovered this trick, I use a lot more ginger! And I’m sure you will too!

Tips & Tricks: Keeping ginger fresh
Instructions
  1. Peel the fresh roots. Ginger is very uneven, which makes it hard to peel. You can cut the roots into smaller pieces to make it easier, but be careful, the pieces should be as large as possible!
  2. Put the peeled roots into the freezer bag and note contents and date.
  3. Put it in the freezer. Et voilà, that’s it! 🙂
  4. If you need some ginger, just pull out a frozen root, grate it while still frozen over your pot or pan and put the rest back into the freezer immediately, so you can reuse them over and over until they’re spent!
Recipe Notes

It’s really not necessary to risk your fingertips by grating the ginger to the bone… your bone. Just use the little left over bits to add a bit of sparkle to your tea or water!
